In February I will be making a return to the land of my mother. My mother and father are retiring in the Philippines permanantly after having been in North America for more than my lifetime. They are inviting me there this winter and I am eager to see what it holds for me now and what I can give to the Philippines. I feel a very special connection to the land and waters there and to my tribal ancestors. I am also very interested in sustainable practices and forming alternative economics. I want to see the Phiippines outwit privatization of its natural resources and reverse the negative trends that have been occuring under colonial rulership since the Spaniards. The future of the Philippines is something I believe could be of great benefit to the global village. I have already voyaged amongst some of its islands and met some indigenous peoples, many artists, musicians, activists and spiritual communities. I have great hope for this nation to fulfil its mystical destiny.
I hope to connect with more people in the Philippines and who retain their connection with the Philippines to advance this. I feel it is part of what i am here to do.

I believe it is undoubtedly. I also feel called to play a part in that perhaps. Why was I born part filipino? I don't want to be inflated about it but it keeps calling me back and giving me experiences that deeply transform me.

Re: Return to the Motherland
Thu, December 4, 2008 - 2:37 PMI've been considering a sabbatical back to the Philippines and Southeast Asia within the next year. Although I was raised here in the US for most of my life, whenever I go back to islands, it seems uncannily like home. The more I visit, the more my heart gets tugged for an extended stay. I've been interested in learning more about the alternative/tribal culture that is being cultivated there. I am a DJ and a photographer, and would love to find a way to make a living back home.
